Wherever possible, we support local. We scoured the oceans and the valleys of Cornwall, handpicked our favourite suppliers and have been serving their produce ever since. The Duchy is home to a smorgasbord of locally brewed, grown, picked, harvested and tended produce, and many of the items on our menu come from within a stones throw of our cafe.
It doesn’t get much closer to home than Porthilly Oysters. Straight from the Padstow Estuary, you can genuinely see, from your seat at Greens, where your shellfish is coming from. Other seafood is freshly delivered from local suppliers Fish for Thought, an ethical and sustainable company, and Wing of St. Mawes, who have been serving up fresh seafood for a quarter of a century!
Our meat comes from Philip Warren Quality Butchers, and pairs perfectly with mouthwatering, home baked bread from Baker Tom and Da Bara Bakery. We love Baker Tom’s bread as his passion for baking these perfectly imperfect loaves comes across in every bite, and Da Bara’s artisan, crusty bread is delicious with our sharing boards and mussels!
For all our fresh fruit and veggies we turn to West Country Fruit Sales. From eggs to asparagus and strawberries to squash, they source all that they offer from farms across Cornwall and Devon.
We always start the day with Cornish Coffee. Their fair trade beans are hand roasted in The Duchy, producing a smooth espresso with fruity tones and honey sweetness. Warm up and snuggle down with a blanket and a cup of fresh, frothy coffee after a wet and windy dog walk, or on beautifully sunny days cool off on our terrace with a glass of Cornish Orchards; cloudy apple or sparkling elderflower take your fancy?
And be merry!
Our neighbours at the Padstow Brewing Co run a craft brewery just up the road, on the outskirts of town. Run by a husband and wife team, their Pints of Padstow are best enjoyed with views over the glorious Camel Estuary. We also stock beers from Cornish lifestyle loving Harbour Brewing Co, whose brews carry the hints of stormy Novembers and summery afternoons.
Of course, bottles of famous Camel Valley and ever growing Trevibban Mill have pride of place amongst our wines. We love being able to offer a true taste of Cornish vineyards from the prized wine makers of the area and wine from The Duchy has never been so popular.
The cherry on top of the Greens of Padstow cake, is stunning Tarquins. Distilled only a few miles up the road, this gin quickly took the country by storm, and their bottles have been gracing our shelves, adding something special to our gin and tonics and being mixed into cocktails since the beginning.
There are so many reasons to support local, to serve Cornish produce and to work with the amazing suppliers within the area. It’s not only the delicious sea air or the quality of the countryside that swayed us to serve up local produce wherever possible, it’s more that we are a local business, dedicating to supporting other local businesses. We like to keep it in the county.
