Christmas in Padstow
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! The streets are sparkling, the knitted jumper game is strong and our restaurant is packed with happy, smiling faces. It can only mean one thing, Christmas is finally upon us in Padstow and we have welcomed it with open arms, a winter menu and plenty of bottles of bubbly. There are so many things that make a Cornish Christmas special; below you can find out a few of our faves.
Padstow Christmas Festival
Friends, feasting and fireworks – was there ever a more perfect combination? The Padstow Christmas Festival runs from the 5th until the 8th of December and every year it’s enjoyed by hundreds of people from near and far. You can check out celebrity chef cooking demonstrations, sample local food and drink, pick up a Christmas present or two and eat like a king, either with us or from the fabulous Christmas Market. (If you’d like to join us for dinner make sure you give us a ring and make a reservation as soon as possible!) We’re also proud to boast the best view of the fireworks in town, so make sure you pop up the steps and grab a glass of sparkling whilst you enjoy the show.
Christmas Parties at Greens
Let’s face it, who doesn’t love a Christmas party? Surrounded by your favourite people, glass in hand, crackers piled on the table and tree sparkling, the atmosphere is unbeatable and it’s a great excuse to get together and relish in the festive spirit. Christmas party bookings are available from Thursday to Saturday night with 2 courses for £20 or 3 for £25, get in touch to find out if we can squeeze you in!
The harbour lights
Possibly one of the prettiest parts of Padstow during the festive season. Strings of colourful lights festoon the harbour during the Christmas period; the masts and pontoons twinkle, glowing on dark evenings, as the lights gently bob with the rhythm of the tide, whilst kids love the Christmas characters that emerge from the harbour, reflected in the calm water. The big switch on takes place over the Padstow Christmas Festival week so make sure you grab a hot chocolate and find the perfect spot to watch.
The festive spirit!
The thing that sets Cornwall apart from everywhere else, in our eyes, is the community spirit. Each town, village and hamlet up and down The Duchy have their own traditions, events and a strong sense of togetherness. Come Christmas time, Padstow sparkles with twinkling lights, decorations and merrymakers and the festive spirit is contagious! The smell of mulled wine and cider, carols and laughter fill the air from early December, and come Christmas Eve everyone is bursting at the seams with excitement.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and we are already counting down the days! The tree is decked, the bubbles are flowing and our winter menu tastes even better overlooking the sparkling lights reflected in the estuary. Merry Christmas everyone, we look forward to seeing you soon.
